Adhering to a suitable dress code is essential for safety, comfort, and performance throughout the charity bike ride. Proper attire helps riders manage varying weather conditions and terrain with confidence.
Clothing Essentials
• Cycling Kit: Wear padded cycling shorts or tights and moisture-wicking jerseys designed for long-distance comfort and sweat management.
• Helmet: Mandatory for all participants. Ensure a proper fit and certified safety standards to protect against head injuries.Â
• Footwear: Use cycling shoes with good grip and support, or snug-fitting athletic trainers suitable for pedalling.
• Weather Layers: Pack according to the forecast. Include waterproof jackets or windbreakers for rain or sudden weather changes.
• Sunglasses: Use cycling-specific eyewear to shield eyes from sun glare, dust, and debris.
Additional Recommendations
• High-Visibility Clothing: Opt for bright or reflective gear to enhance visibility, especially in low-light or poor weather conditions.
• Avoid Loose Clothing: Prevent accidents or discomfort by avoiding garments that may catch in bike components.
• Spare Clothing: Participants will be issued one Hijrah Jersey for the ride. As this jersey will be worn across all three days, riders may wish to purchase an additional jersey or plan to wash and dry it daily. Also consider packing extra socks, under layers, and evening wear suited to the climate and rest periods.
• Comfort & Functionality: Choose attire that allows full range of motion and prevents chafing during extended rides.
Participants should plan their clothing based on expected weather and route demands. A well-prepared kit contributes to both safety and enjoyment on the ride.
